Building Body Image for Teens
In this six week program, join The Contemporary Movement as we examine one of society's most challenging issues, Body Image and Self Esteem. How does one look and feel beautiful just the way she is? What does it mean to be pretty? What does pretty look like? How do you inspire the confidence in yourself to feel beautiful no matter what?
We will look at the in-depth struggles individuals face surrounding the subject of body image. We will also discuss what healthy body image looks like and how we may achieve a positive outlook for ourselves. Through discussion questions and activities, dancers will have the opportunity to form opinions, develop a voice, and consider what it might be like for others who struggle to love themselves and their bodies. Additionally, dancers will take a stand to say that no matter how tall, short, fat, or thin; no matter the color of your hair, eyes, or skin, it is what is on the inside that matters most. Each and every person is beautiful just the way she is.
Dancers will participate in contemporary dance class and have the opportunity to learn a choreographed movement that accompanies discussions. No dance experience necessary, all are welcome.
Join the movement, and take a stand to create a nation of individuals who love and care for themselves. For more information on the Contemporary Movement, click here.
